Casemiro speaks out on Manchester United future and sends message to Ruben Amorim
Casemiro started against Tottenham on Sunday having been an unused substitute in Man United's previous five league outings.
Casemiro has insisted he is keen to see out his contract at Manchester United.
Casemiro signed a four-year deal at United in 2022 after the club agreed to pay an initial £60m for the five-time Champions League winner. He enjoyed a superb first year at United but has struggled ever since.
Ruben Amorim afforded him a rare start against Tottenham on Sunday as injury and illness issues saw the United squad stripped to the bare bones. Casemiro had been an unused substitute in all five of the Premier League games prior to Sunday's defeat at Spurs.
United engaged several agents to try and sell the Brazilian in the mid-season transfer window but he remained at the club. With 16 months still left to run on his deal he has now revealed he is keen to see out his contract at United, although he admitted he is keen to play more often.
"I have to keep doing what I'm doing, with a lot of respect and education," he told AS. "Of course I'd like to play more, of course. I don't know any player who doesn't want to play and help. Also, I'd like to help the club at this time.
"I approach things with respect for my teammates. And above all, I respect United, a club to which I'm very grateful. I have a year-and-a-half left on my contract and I'd like to fulfil it here in Manchester.
"I'm comfortable here and so is my family. They've adapted, we speak English. I'm very grateful to the Old Trafford fans and to the club. I'm happy at club level. Happy in the dugout? Of course not. That's another thing."
Casemiro will be 34 by the time his deal expires should he see out the remainer of his contract at United.
