Florian Wirtz transfer 'talks' as Arne Slot 'stance' on Liverpool signing emerges
Latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip with updates on Bayer Leverkusen forward Florian Wirtz and Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven
Liverpool look set to have a busy summer transfer window if some of the latest reports are to be believed. The Reds had a quiet January, with no new faces being added to the squad for the second half of the season.
Federico Chiesa will remain the only new signing for Liverpool for this season, having arrived from Juventus last summer. Giorgi Mamardashvili was also signed by the Reds but will not move to Anfield until the end of the season following the conclusion of his loan spell with Valencia.
It remains to be seen what players will be on Liverpool's transfer wishlist heading into the summer. Head coach Arne Slot will be working alongside sporting director Richard Hughes to identify targets to strengthen the squad when the transfer window reopens. Here, the ECHO takes a look at some of the latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip that has generated headlines over the last 24 hours.
Florian Wirtz 'wanted' by Liverpool
Liverpool are reportedly in the running to try and sign Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz. According to TBR Football, the Reds are joined by Arsenal and Manchester City in showing an interest in signing the Germany international.
It has been reported that Liverpool have been in contact with Wirtz's representatives over the possibility of a future transfer, although the same applies to both Arsenal and City. The report claims that Wirtz will leave Leverkusen in the summer, although it has been suggested that Real Madrid is the playmaker's most likely destination.
Liverpool 'target' Tottenham star
Liverpool are apparently showing an interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven. According to Football Insider, the Reds are "very keen" on signing the Spurs centre-back in the summer as they aim to strengthen their defensive options.
Slot is reported to be a big of Van de Ven, who signed for Tottenham in the summer of 2023 from Wolfsburg. Liverpool were reportedly interested at the time before the 23-year-old completed a £43million move to North London.
It has also been reported that Liverpool will still want to sign Van de Ven, even if Virgil van Dijk signs a new contract with the club. Van Dijk is out of contract in the summer and it remains to be seen if an extension will be agreed in the next few months.
