David Martindale is under consideration for the Cambridge United job.
The Livingston manager is one of the names that is being discussed by the English League One strugglers. The U’s sacked manager Garry Monk earlier this week and are currently looking at their succession plans. Martindale is one who has come to their attention, with the likes of Mark Bonner, Neil Harris and Jon Brady all being linked.
The 50-year-old has worked wonders in recent seasons in the rise of Livingston from League One to the Premiership. Martindale has also done the job on a shoestring budget and that is another appealing factor to Cambridge, who are five points from safety. Livingston were finally relegated last season but the experienced boss has rebuilt again on a reduced budget and got them back in the promotion push.
Martindale has been in frontline management at Livingston since 2020 and in that time has knocked back a number of other opportunities in recent seasons. St Johnstone made an approach to name him as their new manager last season but he turned them down.
