Jim White caught up in Celtic pain as confused pundit trolls famous Rangers supporter in ridiculous rant

Jason Cundy rarely speaks sense but he dropped a major clanger in a rant after Celtic’s exit from the Champions League

Jason Cundy never misses a trick when it comes to slaughtering Scottish football – and especially Celtic.

It’s just a shame his acerbic utterings have all the accuracy of one of his misplaced passes during a journeyman career as a footballer. The talkSPORT pundit took great delight in mocking Celtic’s painful Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich on the radio in the immediate aftermath of Tuesday night’s absorbing playoff clash.

Paraphrasing Norwegian commentator Bjørge Lillelien who famously conjured the line, “Maggie Thatcher your boys took a hell of a beating” after his nation had beaten England in a World Cup qualifier in 1982, Cundy thought he was being funny.

But he couldn’t even get that right because, when rhyming off famous Scots and footballers with a connection to Celtic, Cundy made a major misstep. In a ridiculous rant that failed to capture just how close Celtic had come to pushing Bayern Munich in the Allianz, the former Chelsea and Ipswich Town defender had a bit of a meltdown.

Neil Lennon, John Hartson, Jim White, Alan Brazil, Ange Postecoglou, Kenny Dalglish, Lewis Capaldi, haggis, Shebahn Aherne, the Hoops, Susan Boyle, Irn-Bru, Tennent's Lager, Scotty Brown, bagpipes, Loch Ness Monster, can you hear me? Your boys took one hell of a beating. Parkhead, Henrik Larsson, can you hear me, Celtic?"

Excuse me, Jim White? Something tells us the veteran broadcaster and huge Rangers fan wasn’t crying into his Irn-Bru at full-time...
