Under-fire Rangers manager Philippe Clement is reportedly on the brink of being sacked by the club. According to the Daily Record, negotiations concerning the terms of his exit package are ongoing, with the compensation expected to exceed the £1.2 million initially suggested.

The report also goes on to claim that former Gers captain Barry Ferguson is a prime candidate for the interim managerial role, potentially enlisting Neil McCann's assistance. The pressure has been mounting on Clement for moths and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has been rumoured to be his replacement in the Ibrox dugout.

Gerrard is currently out of work after departing Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq last month. While things didn't work out Gerrard in Saudi or at Aston Villa, the former England international did enjoy success during his time in charge at Ibrox.

"I can only say sorry and apologise [to the Rangers fans] from me and the team. This is not what Rangers teams need to show on the pitch. We all know this was by far below the standards we all expect.
