Hugo Lloris says Europa League success can save Tottenham's hot and cold season - but Daniel Levy has already helped put them in the group of best clubs in the world.

Spurs have had a season of chaos, with their worst league form for almost 31 years leaving Ange Postecoglou fighting for his future. But three Premier League wins in a row - their best run since December 2023 - has eased the pressure on the Australian.

While Postecoglou has the backing of Spurs fans, Levy doesn't. Supporters are fuming with the club's ownership, with sit-down protests, angry banners and chants of "Levy out" overshadowing the win over Manchester United this month.

Lloris, 38, has also been a vocal critic of Levy's and three months ago said that the gift of a watch engraved with the words “Champions League finalist” from the chairman before their defeat by Liverpool made him question if the club “really want to win”.

But the LAFC star, who spent 12 years in North London without winning a single trophy, has now praised the Spurs supremo for turning the club into a Premier League powerhouse.

He said: "That's not the first time (that fans have protested). But Daniel has my support. I know from inside all the really good things that he has done. He took the club at one level and he brought it to an amazing level.

"Tottenham now belong in the group of the best clubs in the world. We all know that the reputation of Spurs and lacking trophies. But you have to realise that in 20 years, the club has become huge in the football world. Not only on the pitch, but also off the pitch with a strong image all around the world.

"And I know that they are working, they all do their best to get that success. Daniel has been really huge for the club and he deserves a lot of credit.

"But you cannot win trophies with one person. It's about picking the right people and making the environment that is going to help the team to succeed."

Tottenham's domestic season has been a disaster but the Europa League, where they face Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the last-16, offers them the chance to end their 17-wait for a trophy. And with Spurs unlikely to qualify for Europe next season via their league position, Lloris reckons European glory will give his former side added motivation.

He added: "They are still alive. They are still in the Europa League to compete. It's true that the gap for the Champions League places is too big.
