Christopher Nkunku has sent a message on social media after Chelsea's 4-0 win over Southampton on Tuesday night.

Goals from Nkunku, Pedro Neto, Levi Colwill and Marc Cucurella secured a vital victory for the Blues, with Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca coming under pressure. The Blues lost three successive matches before Tuesday's win against the Saints.

But Maresca will now be hoping his team can go on a run of wins in their battle for a top four finish. Chelsea sit fourth going into Wednesday night's Premier League fixtures with Manchester City and Newcastle United having the chance to move above Maresca's side.

And Nkunku has highlighted the importance of Chelsea's win against Southampton. "Important points to bounce back," he said on Instagram. "Keep this up."

Maresca explained after the game that he expects more from Nkunku but that he is also trying to understand him better as a player.

“I am happy with him," he said post-match. "But I know he can give more. We expect more from him.

“But at the same time, we try to understand him. He is not a number nine and not a winger. He played as a winger tonight. He is an attacking midfielder."

Maresca also highlighted Enzo Fernandez's importance to his team. He added: "He behaved as a leader and he is doing top, fantastic.

"For sure Enzo has taken a step forward in that sense. He is showing how good a leader he is, how good he is on the ball, how good he is off the ball and we are delighted with him."
