Liverpool score the 'softest goal in Premier League history' that 'looks like match fixing'
Liverpool took the lead in their Premier League clash through Dominik Szoboszlai in a goal "that was so soft" fans joked it looked like "match fixing"
Liverpool were back to doing what they do best on Wednesday evening.
Arne Slot's red machine netted their 100th goal of the season against Newcastle, but rival fans were left less than impressed. Luis Diaz's quick feet were on display before firing a pass into the feet of Dominik Szoboszlai, who rolled the ball past Nick Pope.
The ball did make its way through Dan Burn's leg, which could have left Pope unsighted, but fans were still furious.
"Pope can f*** off. That's the softest f****** goal. Get in the bin," one fan said, failing to keep his cool. While a second added: "Just to compile my misery Newcastle forget how to mark or defend and concede the softest goal possible!"
"That Liverpool goal looks like match fixing man! How the f*** has the Newcastle keeper not saved that? It’s a pea roller," a third fumed.
And another added: "Just look at the goal Liverpool scored..."
And as fans fumed, former Rangers striker Ally McCoist was only full of praise for the Hungarian on TNT Sports: "How many times do you see the defender go back to defend the goal?
"Dominik Szoboszlai, brilliant. He holds his line, Sandro Tonali goes towards the goal and that's how he gets his two yards of space. Szoboszlai keeps it down and it goes through two legs."
It was Liverpool's 100th goal of the season - becoming the first Premier League team to reach the milestone in all competitions.
