US President Donald Trump has previously admitted he is not an Arsenal supporter after Piers Morgan attempted to convert him during his first stint in the White House.

Morgan, who at the time was a presenter for Good Morning Britain, presented Trump with an Arsenal shirt with his name and number 45 on the back - signifying the fact he was the 45th president of the United States. In the interview back in 2018, the British journalist and Arsenal fan told Trump: "We need a strong leader, who believes in a strong defensive wall, who believes in winning at all costs.

"Who only wants big trophies." He then proceeded to ask Trump if he was a fan of 'soccer' to which initially the President responded by explaining how his son 'loved the sport' and how its popularity was growing ahead of them hosting the World Cup in 2026.

When pressed again, Trump said: "[I am] not particularly [a fan of Arsenal], no." Before adding: "I have a friend who owns Manchester United."

United are co-owned by the American family the Glazers and Avram Glazer recently met Trump. The President's connection to Arsenal continued this week as he met another massive fan of the club - Prime minister Keir Starmer.

In 2023, Starmer spoke fondly about his love for the Gunners with football.london. "What he’s [Mikel Arteta] created this season (last season now) is a team," the Labour leader explained.

"I know that sounds a bit of an odd thing to say but it’s not eleven individuals, he’s created a team that works well together and obviously, because I’m a season ticket holder, there’s the inevitable, we get together for a drink before the game, a whole bunch of us walk down together. Afterwards there’s always the question of who’s been the player of the game.

"This season it’s been really hard because actually the team has played so well and everyone has played well within their teams. You compare that with other clubs, Chelsea for example, where a lot of money has been spent but they haven't created a team. So there’s that."
