David de Gea, along with a group of present and past Manchester United players, have expressed their support for Marcus Rashford following his promising start at Aston Villa.

Rashford's time at Old Trafford appeared to draw to a permanent close in January after he fell out of favour with manager Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese boss was candid about Rashford's situation, paving the way for the striker's exit unless circumstances drastically changed.

Originally, Rashford had been holding out for a move to Barcelona, but the Catalan club's concerns about spending during the January transfer window meant a deal was not done.

That's when Unai Emery stepped in, urging Villa's owners to seize the opportunity for the forward winger, which led to Rashford agreeing to a switch to Villa Park.

Emery has deliberately taken a cautious approach with Rashford's integration into the first team, and this measured strategy seems to be reaping rewards—Rashford has already provided three assists in just six outings.

In an outstanding display during Friday's victory against Cardiff City, Rashford created six chances, equalling his best performance in any match for United.

After Villa's advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals, Rashford shared celebratory photos on social media with the caption: "Into the next round.", reports the Manchester Evening News.

His former United colleagues De Gea, Anthony Martial, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka 'liked' the post, showing solidarity with Rashford. They were joined by current United figures Diogo Dalot, Andre Onana, and Antony who also demonstrated their support.

The latter has been performing well on his own loan spell at Real Betis.

Rashford will be expected to return to the Champions League on Tuesday night as Villa take on Club Brugge away from home in the first leg of their round of 16 tie.
