Birmingham City are storming away at the top of League One and almost certain to be promoted back to the Championship.

Victory over Wycombe at the weekend put Chris Davies’ men 12 points clear, with a game in hand, crucially they are 14 points in front of third placed Wrexham.

It now seems a matter of when, not if, Blues will be confirmed as promoted. Discussing the prospect on the Keep Right On podcast, Alex Dicken and Brian Dick entered dates into their diaries.

Here’s what they predicted.

Alex Dicken

"Seventy-six points from 32 games, I saw yesterday is the best total any League One team has had at this point of the season. So, that suggests they're obviously on course for all sorts of records. I don't see those teams behind keeping pace now.

"It's going to be seventeen points to Wrexham in third if they win the game in hand. So that's essentially six wins. So for me, the likelihood is that Blues' promotion is going to be confirmed before the cup final at this rate.

"I'm looking at the Barnsley game on April 5th. I know Sky have just picked the Bristol Rovers game on April 1st to be televised so maybe they're thinking it could be that game that Blues confirmed back in the Championship.

"But it's going to be around that time, isn't it? I'm going to take a punt and say Barnsley at home. And it would be nice if Blues did it at home with all their fans there."

Brian Dick

"You look at Wrexham's fixtures, away at Huddersfield, game after that, home to Rotherham, then Reading away, Wycombe away, Stockport at home. The Stockport at home game is the international break, so that might get moved.

"But they've got a very difficult run of games, it does it does feel like in a month's time we really will be looking at 'This is the game Blues will be promoted'.

"I wonder if it might be a back-to-back situation, promoted away at Peterborough on the Tuesday, April 8th, then five days later winning the Virtu Trophy against Peterborough on the Sunday. A double in a week, if there's ever a riposte to a Barry Fry's double, it is doing the double actually against Barry Fry. "
