ALISTAIR JOHNSTON has enjoyed making Glasgow his home since joining Celtic two years ago.

And it looks like the Hoops right-back very much appreciates the local lingo as well - even if it's a tad X-rated!

Johnston, 26, was a £3.5million signing for Celtic from CF Montreal back in January 2023.

After a stellar debut in a baptism of fire occasion against Rangers in the Old Firm derby, he's never looked back.

A firm fans' favourite, Johnston has just crossed the 100-appearance mark in the green and white hoops.

The Canada international has become one of the first names on the Celtic team sheet and his consistent form has reportedly attracted interest from Italian giants Inter Milan.

Johnston, who's under contract at Parkhead until 2029, has very much made Glasgow his home since making the move across the Atlantic.

Back in his early days in Scotland, Celtic put Johnston through a Scottish slang test to mark Burns Night.

And it's fair to say it left him absolutely baffled.

But a couple of years on, it seems like Johnston has picked up many of the local phrases - and he's revealed his favourite.

Back in that Burns Night test, Johnston appeared alongside Greg Taylor and now he's revealed his Hoops pal is responsible for the X-rated phrase that's become the one he just loves hearing in Glasgow.

Appearing on an Instagram Q&A, Johnston quickly said: "You're goin to have to beep this!"

He then explained: "But it's 'get tae f***'.

"I love that one it's so good.

"Greg Taylor says it all the time.

"I remember when I first came in, we actually did some Scottish slang.

"I'm not sure that was one of them!

"But yeah. 'Get tae f***'. Easily my favourite."

As mentioned, reports earlier this week suggested Johnston had emerged as a potential transfer target for Inter Milan.

The Serie A leaders reportedly want to add a right-back to compete with Netherlands international Denzel Dumfries ahead of next season.

Reports out of Italy claimed Inter were "working on" a potential swoop for Johnston and alternative targets.
