Former Celtic kid Doak, 19, has been on loan at Middlesbrough from Liverpool this season.

He's excelled in the Championship, dazzling fans with his skilful displays.

Doak has also become a key player for Steve Clarke's Scotland side after making his debut in September.

The winger hasn't featured since playing in Middlesbrough's 2-1 defeat to Preston at the end of January.

He then suffered a thigh injury in training which has kept him out since.

Now, it's been revealed Doak's campaign could be OVER.

He's been forced to undergo surgery and has returned to Liverpool for treatment.

It's a massive blow for Scotland boss Clarke who names his squad for the play-off double-header against Greece next week.

It's a big setback for Middlesbrough too with Michael Carrick's men pushing for the Championship play-offs.

They're just two points outside the top six with 11 games left to go.

There's still hope Doak could return before the end of the campaign but it's very uncertain.

Doak left Celtic to join Liverpool in 2022 and made his first team bow for the Reds later that year two days before his 17th birthday.

He joined Boro on that season-long loan deal in August and has been a revelation.

Doak has made a stunning impact, too, since getting into the Scotland fold.

He was named in the Euro 2024 squad before having to withdraw injured but has since gone on to win six caps after making his debut in September.

Scotland take on Greece in that Nations League play-off double header later this month.
