Jose Mourinho faces Rangers inquest as fuming Fenerbahce punters want sinner OUT - replacement named
Turkish stopper Irfan Can Egribayat has come in for heavy criticism after shipping three goals against the Gers
Furious Fenerbahce fans are demanding that goalkeeper Irfan Can Egribayat is dropped after his display in their 3-1 Europa League loss to Rangers on Thursday night.
The former Turkey U21 international was found wanting as Cyriel Dessers and Vaclav Cerny netted either side of Alexander Djiku's equaliser and then flapped at a shot from Nico Raskin to allow Dessers to score again. Egribayat has held down the number one stop since one-time Celtic target Dominik Livakovic got injured back in January but with the Croatian fit enough to make the bench in the last two games, Memleket report that Fenerbahce fans are now calling for Jose Mourinho to restore to the starting line-up for the return leg at Ibrox next Thursday.
Livakovic was previously linked with a move to Parkhead in 2023 before making the £5.6million move from Dinamo Zagreb later that summer. The 30-year-old has won 62 caps for his country and helped them reach the semi finals of the World Cup in 2022.
Elsewhere, Fenerbahce star Dusan Tadic knows the Turkish giants badly underperformed against Rangers and insists will go on the offensive at Ibrox to try and overturn the 3-1 deficit. The Serbia skipper said: "It was definitely an unexpected result for us. Rangers are a very good team but we are also a very good team.
"Unfortunately, we conceded very easy goals that we shouldn’t have lost. We should have been more organised but we weren’t and they punished us.
"We are behind after the first leg and of course we have to go to Rangers to win. We have no choice now."
