Kyogo told why Rennes nightmare is going from bad to worse as 'immense joy' hides in Celtic hero's brutal snub
Kyogo was snubbed for a teenager and his boss told him exactly why
Rennes boss Habib Beye says there was an 'immense joy' in starting Kader Meite against PSG – even if it came at Kyogo's expense.
The Japan striker was once again snubbed from Beye's starting lineup for the 4-1 defeat to the league leaders, and this time it was 17-year-old Meite given the nod. Kyogo did get off the bench for the final 10 minutes but he is firmly out of favour under Beye, appointed to replace Jorge Sampaoli who departed just days after signing Kyogo from Celtic.
The 30-year-old now faces a crossroads with his £10m move so far proving to be a disaster. And boss Beye dropped a hint things may not get better in the immediate future with Meite taking his chance and impressing him. He said: "Kader Meïté is a 2007 player who has come up against some of the top players in the Champions League. He's got a situation that he needs to convert, but I hope that he'll have others and that in a year's time it will all come to fruition without any problems.
"It's an immense joy to see a 2007 player express himself against Pacho and BeraIdo, who are certainly the best defenders in France. The spirit he showed and the fight he put up were remarkable for a 17-year-old."
