Manchester City set up a mouthwatering Women’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester United, after knocking out Aston Villa with a 2-0 home victory.
City's reward for overcoming Villa is a last-four battle with their local rivals, after the draw was made later on Sunday.
Women’s Super League top scorer Khadija Shaw was on target once more, opening the scoring for the hosts in the second half.
Jess Park doubled City’s lead with 18 minutes to go and there was no way back for Villa, whose attentions now turn back to the WSL relegation battle.
Three-time FA Cup winners City, who last lifted the trophy in 2019/20, will face the defending champions after they beat Sunderland 3-1 in Saturday's quarter-final.
"I've been in a cup final and I know how it feels to win it," Shaw told the BBC. "We deserve to be in this position, we've tried our best to be in the position, we just have to kick on."
City struggled to threaten in the first half, Shaw pulling a shot wide before the hosts had goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita to thank for denying Villa’s Ebony Salmon with a superb one-handed reaction save.
Mary Fowler threaded a pass into the path of Shaw eight minutes into the second half and the Jamaican made no mistake, taking one touch before finishing calmly.
The home side then profited from some slack defending for the second, as Park was left all on her own in the box to fire into the bottom corner, and Shaw praised her team-mate after the game.
"She's been fantastic over the past couple of games," she said.
"We work on it a lot in training. She knows where I'm going to be, I know where she is. Just know that understanding is there and keep it going."
Arsenal stunned by Liverpool
Arsenal slipped to a surprise 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Meadow Park.
Daphne van Domselaar's own goal ensured The Reds sealed their place in the last four for the first time in eight years.
Amber Whiteley's side were good value for an impressive win, which was sealed when Sophie Roman Haug's effort hit the post and bounced off an unfortunate Van Domselaar and into the net with 78 minutes played.
Their reward for dumping out the 14-time winners is a semi-final clash against Chelsea.
Chelsea edge out Palace
Chelsea had to bide their time, but negotiated their way past a stubborn Crystal Palace side with a 1-0 win at Kingsmeadow.
Sonia Bompastor's side remain on course for an historic quadruple after a 67th-minute strike from Lauren James sealed a place in the last four.
The win should have been by a more-comfortable margin, but the WSL champions missed several chances through James, Aggie Beever-Jones, Catarina Macario and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd.
Bompastor's team can win their first trophy next weekend when they face Manchester City in the League Cup final.
They then face Gareth Taylor's side again in a two-legged UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-final, with a Women's Super League contest between the two sides sandwiched in between.
