Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho has got himself into hot water with the Turkish Football Federation and is reportedly facing another ban from the touchlines amid a racism scandal.

Mourinho was accused of racism by Galatasaray following comments that he made after the derby.

The Portuguese made comments about the Galatasaray bench 'jumping like monkeys'.

He also stated that the match was better as it wasn't officiated by a Turkish referee, with Slovenian official Slavko Vrancic taking charge of the game, after both teams requested for a foreign official.

Mourinho was initially slapped with a four-match ban, which was later halved by the Turkish Football Federation following an appeal.

In addition, the Fenerbahce manager's fine was reduced from 1.6m Turkish lira (£35,000) to 558,000 (£12,200).

However, in an interview with Sky Sports, Mourinho has questioned the impartiality of those that dealt with his suspension, after the head of Turkish football's disciplinary committee was seen on social media sporting a Galatasary shirt.

'On the day my [four-match] ban was decided it comes to public eyes that the chief of the disciplinary committee is celebrating among friends with a Galatasaray shirt on,' he said.

'Only here you can understand the dimension of it.'

The Turkish Football Federation now intends to punish Mourinho for 'statements aimed at damaging the reputation of Turkish football'.

It's reported that a decision on the severity of the punishment is to be determined on Thursday, with a ban and fine likely.

Following the initial incident during the Istanbul derby, former players who have worked under Mourinho such as Didier Drogba and Michael Essien have come to his defence.

'I've seen the recent comments about Jose Mourinho,' Drogba said. 'Trust me when I tell you I have known Jose for 25 years and he is not a racist and history (past and recent) is there to prove it.'

Essien shared a picture of himself and Drogba with Mourinho during their time together at Chelsea, captioned with three heart emojis.

Fenerbahce are currently second in the Super Lig, seven points off leaders Galatasaray but with a game in hand, and take on third-place Samsunspor on Sunday.
