'Crazy' Moussa Diaby comment as Aston Villa star told what to expect after Chelsea move
Aston Villa loanee Axel Disasi could play his first Champions League game at Villa Park this evening
Moussa Diaby told Axel Disasi exactly what to expect from the Villa Park atmosphere as the Aston Villa loanee prepares to sample his first European night in B6.
Unai Emery’s side take on Club Brugge for the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash on Wednesday night.
After winning 3-1 in Belgium last Tuesday, Villa have a huge opportunity to progress to the quarter-finals, where they would meet Paris Saint-Germain after they saw off Liverpool on penalties at Anfield.
“We played a great game there [Brugge] in the first leg,” Disasi said on Villa TV. “We won there and now we have to finish the job. It will not be easy because anything can happen. We have to finish the job, stay focused and play the same game which we played there.
“It was great to have this feeling with the [Champions League] music and all my family were there [in Brugge], so it was very nice to have this feeling, it was something I was looking forward to.
“I am very happy to have achieved this. Now, I hope we will win again and go to the next stage.
“When I signed I was speaking with Moussa Diaby, who was here before. He was explaining to me how Villa Park was crazy.
“Against Liverpool, I said, ‘now I get it’. He was not lying. I think in the Champions League, maybe it should be even higher. I am very excited to discover this. Let’s see what the Villa fans can bring for us in this game.”
Disasi won the man of the match award for his strong display against Brentford last time out, as he helped Villa keep only their fourth league clean sheet of the campaign.
“As a defender it is always good to get a clean sheet at the end of the game, especially on this one because I was also looking for my first victory with the club in the Premier League,” he explained.
“It was great to see how we competed there, all the players were fighting for every ball and it was very good to see on the field.
“This kind of action [tackles] is what I like the most. I like to defend and when I block a shot like this after a long run, I think it is good because it brings energy on the field for the team. It is just me celebrating a tackle, a block, something from me.”
Asked about his time at the club so far, Disasi said: “I have enjoyed it a lot. I am very happy. I am in a safe space with good people, atmosphere and a top training ground.
“I think the way I play my games is the best answer. I feel very good, so hopefully I will continue like that.”
