Rangers ultras turn Glasgow sky red with pyro display ahead of Europa League clash
The Union Bears have lit up the streets of Glasgow with a pyro party as Rangers fans get in the mood for tonight's Europa League last 16 second leg tie against Fenerbahce
Glasgow's night sky was a crimson red on Thursday evening.
It's a massive night at Ibrox as Rangers aim to secure their spot in the Europa League quarter-finals against Fenerbahce.
The significance of the match hasn't escaped the Ibrox faithful, who've kicked off a grand pyro party on their march to the iconic stadium.
Barry Ferguson's squad are favourites to advance to the next round following their surprising 3-1 win over the Turkish team in Istanbul last week.
They're up against a Fenerbahce side led by European legend Jose Mourinho, despite his recent trophy drought.
Interim manager Ferguson has rallied for a charged-up home crowd to boost Rangers - who've suffered defeats in their last three matches at Ibrox across all competitions - and it's safe to say the fans have answered the call.
Fenerbahce's hardcore fans are famous for their fiery pyrotechnic displays pre and during matches, but the Union Bears have shown they can match that intensity.
The Gers made it to the Europa League final under Giovanni van Bronckhorst in May 2022 and are hoping another standout win tonight will keep their hopes of reaching this year's final in Bilbao alive.
The supporters are definitely ready for it, and now they're just hoping their team steps up.
Speaking ahead of the game, Ferguson said: "We need to be better at those things. I’ve mentioned that to my players, that sometimes we’re too nice. We can’t be nice all the time.
“I expect Fenerbahce to be a bit like that, but I expect us to be a bit like that as well. Fenerbahce will be hurting. I know that, my players know it.
“We spoke about that over the last couple of days. We’re prepared in the right manner. There might be one or two tweaks.
“We’ll just need to wait and see, but it’s been a good three days. That’s the first time I’ve really had the players to go and work on certain things that I believe we can improve on.
“They have worked ever so hard, so that’s all I can ask of them as the manager.”
