Erling Haaland has smashed yet another Premier League record, snatching a title that Alan Shearer held for three decades. The Manchester City forward fired the current champs ahead in their clash with Brighton on Saturday, netting a goal within just 11 minutes.

At 24, Haaland initiated the play by feeding Omar Marmoush on the right before City's fresh £65million recruit was fouled by Adam Webster. Haaland took charge of the spot-kick and effortlessly slotted it home.

The Norwegian ace confidently drove the ball into the bottom right corner, duping Brighton's keeper Bart Verbruggen. "Pure confidence," exclaimed Dion Dublin on Final Score.

"Erling Haaland doesn't even look at the keeper and he finishes it with pace."

This penalty secured Haaland's status as the quickest player to hit 100 goal involvements in the Premier League, amassing 84 goals and 16 assists in a mere 94 games. He outpaced Shearer, who reached this milestone with Blackburn Rovers in 1995 after 100 matches, reports the Mirror.

Other football greats like Manchester United's Eric Cantona and Liverpool's Mo Salah took 116 games to hit the century mark, while City's own Sergio Aguero and Arsenal's Thierry Henry required 118 and 121 games, respectively.

Records have been tumbling since Haaland burst onto the Premier League scene in 2022, bagging the Golden Boot in both seasons with Manchester City and scooping up the league title twice. Although Haaland might not clinch a third consecutive title this term, he's hot on the heels of Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.

No player has ever snagged the coveted individual honour in their first three Premier League seasons. Haaland is the only one to have achieved it in his first two stints.

The goal machine's staggering haul of 36 goals in the 2022-23 season is still the benchmark for a single campaign, but Salah is breathing down his neck, just nine goals adrift with nine matches to play. Unlike Salah, whose contract runs out in June, there's no whisper of Haaland leaving this summer.

Back in January, City dropped the bombshell that Haaland had penned a colossal nine-and-a-half-year deal, securing his services at the Etihad until 2034. "I want to keep developing, keep working to get better and look to do my best to try and help us achieve more success going forward," he vowed, sending a shiver down the spine of the rest of the Premier League.
