Callum Davidson 'sacked' by Queen's Park as Spiders boss pays the price for Falkirk mauling
The Spiders have parted company with Davidson after they hammered 4-0 at home to Championship leaders Falkirk on Saturday
Queen's Park have reportedly sacked Callum Davidson following their heavy 4-0 loss to Falkirk on Saturday.
The former St Johnstone boss took charge of the Spiders in January 2024 and guided them to safety in the Championship last season with an eighth place finish.
But despite leading his team to the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup with a famous 1-0 victory against Rangers at Ibrox last month, BBC Sport Scotland claim that the Hampden Park side have now given him the boot.
The defeat to the Bairns has left Queen's Park sitting in seventh place in the second tier, 11 points adrift of the play-offs and just six above Dunfermline, who currently occupy the relegation play-off spot.
Queen's have now lost four games on the spin in all competitions and have picked up just one league victory in their last nine Championship matches.
Davidson - who led St Johnstone to a iconic Scottish Cup and League Cup double in 2021 had replaced Dutchman Robin Veldman in the hot seat in Glasgow following the ex Anderlecht coach's failed stint as Queens boss.
With eight games remaining, the Spiders will now hope to find a replacement for Davidson ahead of next weekend's trip to face Greenock Morton.
The season could yet end with silverware for Queen's, who will take on Livingston in the final of the Challenge Cup on March 30 at the Falkirk Stadium.
They notched up 10 Scottish Cups between 1874 and 1893 but will hope to lift the Challenge Cup for the first time in their 157-year-long history.
