James Tavernier hears roaring Rangers pals hijack live TV interview as jubilant stars blare anthem in dressing room ‘party’
The celebrations were wild after Rangers beat Celtic 3-2 through Hamza Igamane's late strike
James Tavernier quickly apologised for the 'language' used by his Rangers teammates – as his post-match interview on Sky Sports was derailed by celebration chaos.
Barry Ferguson's team picked up a long-awaited victory at Parkhead after Hamza Igamane's late winner decided a 3-2 thriller. It was the first time since 2020 they'd won an Old Firm enemy territory and, backed by a sizeable away support inside Celtic Park for the first time in years, there was an added edge to the wild post-match celebrations.
Captain Tavernier joined Nicolas Raskin for the post-match TV debrief but only managed to get out the words 'Obviously happy to get the result...' before one roaring teammate interrupted from off-camera. Tavernier had to then say 'apologies for the language' before getting the interview back on track.
"Obviously happy to get the result – apologies for the language," he said. "We had a really good first half, and then we sat off a bit too much that brought them into the game. But we showed character throughout the match and Hamza comes up with the winner – we're delighted to get three points here and it's obviously a good week for the club."
The interview came just as the Rangers players were returning to the dressing room to celebrate and players and staff were heard banging on the boards as they made their way off the pitch. Adopted Ibrox anthem, Cascada's I'm Feeling It, was then heard blaring as Tavernier tried to contain himself in front of the TV cameras.
But after around two minutes in which the interview itself struggles to be heard over the festivities in the background, Sky's Luke Shanley tells him 'that sounds like a party in the dressing room, I'll let you get away.'
