Manchester United youngster Dermot Mee could be handed his chance to impress at Leicester on Sunday night.

If Andre Onana isn't passed fit, then Ruben Amorim will need to turn to his fourth-choice stopper in the Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium.

United are already missing Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton due to injuries and an illness to their No.1 could see Mee thrust into the starting line up.

Onana is due to undergo a late fitness test, and while United are hopeful he will be good to go against Ruud van Nistelrooy's struggling side, Mee is on standby. Another academy prospect, Elyh Harrison, is also with the travelling party.

Mee, who penned a new deal with United in August 2023, was part of the squad that jetted off to San Diego for a pre-season camp and friendly against Wrexham, although he didn't play. Since joining United in 2019, Mee has been a regular presence in training alongside the first-team keepers at Carrington.

Whether it's Onana or Mee between the sticks, Amorim says his side must continue with humility and hunger tonight.

“Everything is important and we need to continue with this feeling that we can win games and games after games,” the United head coach said on Friday. “It doesn’t matter the time of rest or the time to prepare the next game. We can do it, and we showed against Arsenal.

“We have to be humble and forget that, forget the table and face Leicester like we faced Real Sociedad. We just need to win to improve our position in the table.

“The most important thing is to continue with this feeling of winning and that we are improving as a team.”
