RANGERS' doomed era under Philippe Clement felt like a distant memory as they stormed to a 3-2 victory over Celtic.

But a key figure from Clement's spell in charge was in attendance at Celtic Park for the memorable occasion.

Former Rangers coach Alex Rae is a childhood Gers fan, and was in the away end for the big game at Parkhead.

Rae left the club along with Philippe Clement last month, but clearly his affection for the Ibrox men isn't going anywhere.

He posted a video of the fans singing and applauding the players and coaching staff on X, formerly Twitter.

Rae wrote: "Not a bad way to spend Sunday afternoon."

The former Gers midfielder lifted the lid on his and Clement's departure a few weeks after the decision was made, revealing that he was informed by the club's CEO over the phone.

He told Go Radio: "I spoke to Patrick Stewart, it was a fairly amicable discussion, I wasn't hard work in any shape or form.

"I think he was probably more relieved there wasn't a rant or rave coming down the phone.

"I have been around this game long enough, they've made their decision and it is just time to move on.

"He said to me at the tail end of the conversation, 'you are welcome to come to the football club as our guest' and I said 'I have two season tickets in the Broomloan Road’."

Meanwhile, a current Rangers backroom staffer was spotted calming down raging Celtic fans after their rivals' late winner.

Rangers ultras barred from Celtic Park

Gers winger Vaclav Cerny celebrated Hamza Igamane's goal by running down the touchline spraying Hoops fans with water from his bottle, causing an outpouring of fury which included some of the punters PUNCHING the dugout.

And Ibrox assistant kitman David MacGregor was seen trying to play the peacemaker with the irate supporters.
