Sadio Mane and his teenage wife have baptised their newborn daughter in Senegal.

The former Liverpool star and his 19-year-old wife Aisha Tamba, celebrated the ceremoney for their child, Animata, in Dakar, the nation's capital. The couple welcomed their first child earlier this month and on Thursday christened their daughter it has been reported.

Mane married Tamba during an Islamic arranged ceremony in January 2024. Tamba was still a student when she met the Al-Nassr forward, who is said to have vowed to marry her as soon as they started dating.

Mane, 32, is believed to have tied the knot with 19-year-old after meeting her when she was 16 and paid for her final years in school. Tamba finished her schooling eight months ago and joined Mane in Saudi Arabia.

Mane's uncle, Ibrahima Toure hosted the celebration and made a statement to mark the occasion on the steps outside of his home.

A video from the ceremony shows jovial family members dancing and clapping in celebration of Animata's baptism. Tamba's mother donned a traditional yellow dress, while her father was dressed all in white.

It was a quick turnaround for Mane, who was back in action for Al-Nassr on Friday. In a nod to the recent birth of Animata, Mane celebrated his goal in the win over Al-Kholood by rocking his arms as if he was holding a baby.

Mane has already made no secret that he wants more children in the future too. The ex-Bayern Munich and Southampton ace has previously been asked about plans for a family.

"If it is just a choice, I would say three or four," he told Senepeopleplus. "Funny question. Except that it is god who decides and I will thank him no matter what. Whatever the number is, I will accept it. I am leaning more towards three or four and we will see about the rest."

Al-Nassr helped Mane publically announce the birth of his child, and posted a video of him reciting a powerful verse from the Quran while walking through the club's training ground. Mane recited Al khaf ayat 46: "Wealth and children are the adornment of this worldly life, but the everlasting good deeds are far better with your Lord in reward and in hope."
