Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen drops Old Trafford exit admission as he outlines his plans for the next stage of his career.

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has admitted that he expects to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Eriksen has made 99 competitive appearances since he joined Man United from Brentford last summer, contributing seven goals and 17 assists.

However, the Denmark international has struggled for regular playing time this term, having made just nine Premier League starts in 2024-25.

Eriksen, who is out of contract this summer, has confirmed there have been no discussions over a new deal, leaving him on course to walk away for nothing when his deal expires at the end of June.

"In my head, I'm prepared to find something new," Eriksen said in an interview with Danish outlet TV2. "What that will be is not something I've decided yet.

"I haven't heard anything, and when I don't, I assume that the collaboration stops. That's how I interpret it. Everyone knows that the contract expires, so I figure there's only one way [it will go]."

Eriksen is away with the Denmark squad preparing for a two-legged tie against Portugal in the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals.

While his current focus will be on his international commitments, Eriksen will have to make big decisions over the next steps of his club career in the near future.

Eriksen opens up on future plans

Eriksen has made it clear that he is not considering a move to MLS and is still keen to continue his club football in Europe.

"The intention is not to stay in England," Eriksen said. "I am not going to the USA - we are not going that far.

"We would like to stay in Europe, but it is too early to go home to Denmark. I feel like I have some good years abroad left."

The midfielder has spent the majority of his career in the Premier League, but he has previously spent time playing in the Netherlands and Italy.

Eriksen spent the first three years of his senior career with Ajax, before he later spent time with Inter Milan following his Tottenham Hotspur departure.
