Liverpool will have to wait until they host Everton at the start of April to continue their pursuit of the Premier League title. The Reds are 12 points clear at the top of the league but suffered disappointing defeats to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Newcastle United in the League Cup final last week.

For Arne Slot, it was the first time he has lost back-to-back games since succeeding Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool's head coach last summer.

The Dutchman, though, will now have to wait until after the international break to see his side's reaction to a disappointing week at Anfield. But you already knew that, didn't you?

Gravenberch played 74 minutes at Wembley on Sunday afternoon as the Reds suffered just a sixth defeat of the season after goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak won the cup for the Magpies.

After Liverpool's defeat in the capital, Gravenberch, who has played 41 times for Liverpool across all competitions this term, joined the Dutch national team at their base in Utrecht.

But despite training with the rest of Ronald Koeman's group on Monday, the former Ajax and Bayern Munich midfielder has now withdrawn from the squad ahead of Thursday night's clash against Spain in Rotterdam.
