As a Scunthorpe United fan, I’ve experienced first-hand what non-league football is all about.

On Saturday afternoon, I’ll be a nervous spectator at the Attis Arena as we face Chester City in a crucial National League North promotion clash, with nearly 9,000 people in attendance - a record-breaking crowd for the level.

Scunthorpe’s journey into non-league has been a humbling experience, but it has also given me a genuine appreciation for the work that goes on behind the scenes and in the community to keep these clubs alive.

Non-league football is built on this dedication. Clubs rely on volunteers who work countless hours with little reward other than their love for the team.

Whether running the turnstiles, maintaining the pitch, or organising fundraising efforts, these people are the backbone of non-league football. Without them, many clubs wouldn’t exist.

That’s why Non-League Day is such a big day.
