Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon hobbled out of the Wembley mixed zone last night without comment after suffering a hip injury during his substitute appearance against Albania.

There is a chance that Gordon could be released from the England squad and not play any part in Monday's game against Latvia back at Wembley. Gordon suffered a hip injury in the 2-0 win over Albania following a challenge with England boss Thomas Tuchel saying: "He's a bit worried."

Chronicle Live watched on as he looked uncomfortable as he left the venue of legends. Although, Gordon has shown before he is a quick healer after suffering groin problems last season but making a quick recovery but it remains to be seen whether he will be fit for the Premier League game at Leicester City, once he has completed his three-match ban.

Gordon at least managed a smile as he walked down the interview area of Wembley but was limping badly. Medics had rushed to the scene at the final whistle with Gordon clutching his hip for the closing stages after trying to play through the pain barrier.

Both the England and Newcastle medical teams have been in touch before a decision on whether he stays with the Three Lions is made later today. Gordon was described as a major doubt for the clash with Latvia late last night.

Tuchel said: "He looks injured. I thought it was his stomach but it's his hip and he doesn't look good."

With Lewis Hall and Sven Botman already sidelined this is the disastrous twist Newcastle were dreading during the international break. Team-mate Dan Burn got through the match unscathed while Tino Livramento did not move off the bench.

Gordon was not one of the subs taking part in the warm down as he underwent treatment. Gordon had only came on the field for the last 17 minutes of the game and he managed 11 touches in that time. As the match finished, England assistant Anthony Barry went straight over to Gordon to show concern.
