Ianis Hagi gets 'modest' Rangers rating as teammate realises double dream – Ibrox news bulletin
Hagi has been told he'll never match up to his dad while Gers title winner is branching out off the field
Cornel Dinu has told Ianis Hagi he will NEVER match up to his legendary father Gheorghe.
The out of contract Rangers star could only make the bench as Romania kicked off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a shock home defeat to Bosnia.
Former Ballon d'Or nominee and Dinamo Bucharest favourite Dinu didn't hold back in his assessment of Hagi as he compared the father and son duo to Dutch Icon Johan Cruyff and his son Jordi.
He said: "I'm afraid Ianis Hagi is never going to get to the stage where he surpasses his father. He is a modest player.
"He had a great chance where all he had to do was pass the ball, but he hesitated and his eventual pass was blocked.
"If you look at the history of football, I don't think there has even been a boy who has done better than his father.
"Look at Johan Cruyff for example. It's the same with Gheorghe Hagi and Ianis."
Rabbi Matondo enjoyed a far better international outing as the winger scored for Wales in their 3-1 win over Kazakhstan in Cardiff.
Matondo, who is currently on loan at Hanover 96 in Germany, admits he realised a dounle dream by netting for Craig Bellamy's men in the Welsh captial at the home of his formative club.
"I've always been a big Wales fan.," said Matondo. "And I came through the Cardiff academy ranks before moving away, so it was always a dream to score at Cardiff City Stadium."
Meanwhile, Gers title winner Fashion Sakala has started his own property company. The pacey wideman was solf by former Ibrox boss Michael Beale in the summer of 2023 when he made a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.
But he's not just collecting the cash in the Middle East. He has plenty going on back in his native Zambia and has embarked on another off-field venture back home.
He posted on Instagram: "God Bless. Introducing myself as the CEO of Gracimor Properties.
