I joined Andre Onana's former club after realising my Saudi transfer was a huge mistake

Jordan Henderson's Saudi struggles serve as a warning for Andre Onana with the Manchester United goalkeeper now a summer transfer target

Jordan Henderson's disastrous move to Saudi Arabia could be a sign for Andre Onana to stay at Manchester United with the Middle Eastern country expected to target the goalkeeper this summer.

It is no secret that Ruben Amorim is looking to overhaul his squad following United's poor Premier League showing this season. More was expected from the club in the winter transfer window where the only big-name player brought in was Patrick Dorgu.

A revamping of the squad has put certain players at risk of leaving Old Trafford - and Onana is the latest name to attract interest. Saudi Pro-League clubs are expected to target the 28-year-old goalkeeper this summer.

A move to Saudi has worked out for some Premier League players. Ivan Toney is scoring goals left, right and centre, Aleksandar Mitrovic has bagged a stunning 13 goals in 14 matches and former United striker Cristiano Ronaldo is the king of football over there.

However, a pattern emerges for players who have been a success in Saudi. They are all strikers. It seems to be much harder for a player out of an attacking position to show off their skills, as Henderson found out.

Despite earning an eye-watering £350k a week, it wasn't enough to make up for the loss of enjoyment the England international felt for his football. Even with the comfort of playing under fellow-former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard, Henderson's time in the Middle East did not last long when, after less than six months, he made the move to Onana's former team, Ajax.

It is understood that the Cameroonian goalkeeper has no intention to leave Old Trafford anytime soon. He still has three years left on his contract and will only leave if the clubs tells him to leave.

Onana has been playing in the top leagues of Europe for almost a decade and he is still only 28. It is likely that he will want to stay and battle to continue as first-choice 'keeper for Amorim.
