Taylor Swift close to Barcelona deal as pop superstar to feature against Real Madrid in El Clasico
The world famous musician is set to join the likes of Rolling Stone, Drake and Coldplay in a unique achievement
Taylor Swift is close to signing an agreement with Barcelona - not as a player - but to appear on the La Liga giant's shirts for El Clasico.
The 35-year-old pop icon is reported to have beaten the likes of Ed Sheeran and Travis Scott to the deal as the Blaugrana get ready for their likely title decider against Real Madrid on May 11.
Coldplay appeared on the famous kit as Hansi Flick’s side won 4-0 against Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu in October.
The likes of Drake, Rosalía, The Rolling Stones and Karol G have also joined the list of global artists who have featured on Barca’s kit under the Spotify deal.
According to RAC1 in Spain: “Taylor Swift is the top choice to be the artist on the Barcelona shirt during the May Clasico.
“The agreement is pending, only the final touches.
“There have been several names on the table, such as Ed Sheeran and rapper Travis Scott.”
While the agreement is not yet finalised, negotiations are reportedly in the final stages. Mundo Deportivo previously reported that Sheeran was also under consideration, while RAC 1 has mentioned rapper Travis Scott as another option.
Since signing a sponsorship agreement with Spotify from the start of the 2022-23 season, the popular music streaming app has foregone their logo being worn for El Clasico matches in La Liga – instead, the logo of an artist takes their place.
The Catalans will hope that she brings them some luck for what looks like being a possible title deciding match-up at the Estadi Olimpic.
The American singer-songwriter’s presence would hold added significance, coming nearly a year after she performed at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu in May 2024.
Swift, 35, is also closely linked to the sporting world due to her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce.
Given her global fanbase, her appearance on Barcelona’s shirt would generate widespread attention in one of football’s most-watched fixtures.
