Lyall Cameron facing Rangers injury sweat as Dundee boss Tony Docherty reveals race against time
Cameron is nursing an injury problem and Saturday's clash against Rangers may come too soon
Tony Docherty is sweating over the fitness of Lyall Cameron for Saturday's Premiership clash with Rangers at Dens.
The midfielder, who signed a pre-contract with the Ibrox side in January, has suffered a hamstring strain and been sent for a scan.
Now, Dark Blues boss Docherty faces an anxious wait to discover whether the 22-year-old will be able to play against his future employers. The manager said: “Lyall picked up a knock so we’re sending him for a scan.
“He felt his hamstring so we have to wait and see what it shows up. It was just a tweak at the end of training so fingers crossed he will be okay.
“We’ll just have to wait and see what the scan says because you never know with these ones until they take a look at it.”
It comes after Docherty said his key midfield man would have no issues going to battle with the team he's signed up to join if he's fit in time.
Asked if he'd have any qualms about throwing him in for that reason, Docherty said: “Not in the slightest. Lyall is a consummate professional.
“He’ll do all he can – you’ve seen that in his recent performances. He was outstanding against Dundee United, Josh Mulligan as well.
“Lyall is gutted he didn’t get his goal (against Dundee United) because of the VAR intervention.
“Lyall showed with that performance his absolute commitment towards Dundee and it will be no different on Saturday.”
Cameron has an impressive ten goals and eight assists this season and will be hoping to get the chance to add to that against his future employers this weekend.
