Premier League side Newcastle United are keen to reignite their interest in Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

It comes after the club enquired about the same player last summer.

The Times claim that Newcastle were willing to pay £50 million for the defender last summer, but the Reds would not do business.

The club are now ready to return again the the upcoming summer window.

It is added that the club feel that a fee of around £30 million may now be enough to tempt Liverpool into selling the 22-year-old.

The defender has struggled for regular starts under Arne Slot and has mostly been reduced to appearances off the bench so far this season.

Despite his lack of regular game time at Anfield, Quansah was called up to Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad over the current international break.

His wait for a first cap however goes on with him being left out of the squad vs Albania and an unused substitute against Latvia.

Speaking about being called up to the squad, Quansah said: "Yeah, it's a surreal feeling. Obviously with the last camp, it was to step in and stuff like that. But this one is definitely the first one where I feel part of the squad, it's a great feeling.

"Have I spoken to the new manager? No, not yet. But football's about ups and downs.

"Last time, not doing what I wanted to and not being picked for the Euros... I just tried to bounce back and be in a better position for this season.

"It's good to be part of the plans."
