Brendan Rodgers gets Hotline heat for brutal Celtic transfer honesty as Tierney and Forrest catch madcap strays

Rangers left it late yet again at Dens Park but this time the only thing spilled was Dundee’s points.

There was no repeat of Vaclav Cerny’s Watergate antics but Barry Ferguson’s side certainly drank in their crazy win after Saturday’s 4-3 thriller.

Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, had a wry grin as he said: “That's two weeks in a row that Rangers have overdone the celebrations. Against Celtic it was squirting water and against Dundee apparently Cyriel Dessers shouted ‘ya beauty’ so loud he could have deafened people in the crowd. This sort of behaviour must be stopped!”

George Wilson, West Sussex, added: "With Rangers 3-1 down with 15 minutes to go the usual Celtic-supporting Rangers-haters on here would have been queuing up ready to put the boot in as usual.

"These are the people who don’t care a jot that Celtic won 3-0. Rangers losing is far more important.

"Unfortunately for them, Rangers pulled it out of the bag again with a late winner which must have reminded them of two weeks ago. A last-minute winner is a real sickener. I guess that’s another title party postponed yet again.”

But Jamie Thompson, Yoker, wasn’t impressed: “It's clear this team is just not good enough. The defending is laughable and some of these players can't even pass a ball. Barry has tried his best but I can't see him keeping the manager’s role.

"These players have shortchanged manager and supporters. They have no chance in the Europa League as Athletic Bilbao will destroy this team.”

And Bill Waugh felt the same about Dundee’s display: “I’m sorry but as a professional football player, if you’re winning 3-1 at home with 20 minutes to go and get beat 4-3, you deserve to be relegated. Dundee were a disgrace. I hope they go down.”

Celtic shook off their Old Firm loss with a comfortable win over Hearts. Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton said: “I was a bit apprehensive prior to Saturday’s match as to how Celtic would react to the Rangers loss and how our new keeper Viljami Sinisalo would settle in.

"Both fears went unfounded thankfully. It also seems inevitable that a massive fee will be on the table to tempt Daizen Maeda away but I’m hoping he takes stock of the situation and looks at how Kyogo and Matt O’Riley’s move have backfired and therefore isn’t tempted to move on.”

But Jimmy Murray, Edinburgh, said: “Brendan Rodger's treatment of Greg Taylor is shocking! He isn’t a great player but he always gives 100 percent, unlike some. He’s to be replaced by Kieran Tierney. It will be interesting next season to see who wins the most injured player of the year award, Tierney or James Forrest.”

Meanwhile, Rodgers’ respect dig at Cerny is still generating debate. Gordon Black, Bonnybridge, said: “Rodgers accused Vaclav Cerny of lacking respect and then admits in the small print that he didn't even witness the incident.

"Presumably he also didn't witness the torrent of abuse and missile throwing from the Celtic supporters following Cerny's actions?”

Stevie Jackson, Barrhead, added: “Is this the same Brendan Rodgers who was Celtic manager when Leigh Griffiths tied a Celtic scarf to one of the goalposts at Ibrox and in another game wiped his nose on the Rangers corner flag? I don't seem to remember him commenting back then?”

Final word goes to disgruntled Killie fan Tom Paterson, Falkirk, after his side’s 5-1 pasting from St Mirren: “Come on Billy Bowie - now is the time to jettison Derek McInnes, surely THE most overrated manager to ply his trade in SPFL. I predicted we were relegation fodder after going to our first home tie in Europe and haven't been back since. Neither will I until he has GONE. The Saints result was an embarrassment.”
