Keshi Anderson has the potential to reproduce his stunning League One form in next season’s Championship, says Birmingham City boss Chris Davies.

The 29-year-old winger continued his rich vein of form with a stunner in Blues’ 2-1 win at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday. Top scorer Jay Stansfield clinched three points for Blues with a late penalty.

Anderson took his goal tally to eight in all competitions and he is among the favourites to be crowned Blues’ Player of the Year.

“I thought he was one of the best players on the pitch,” Davies said. “He gives us real speed and he’s quicker than a lot of the players he’s up against as a start point. He is making runs and timing his runs.

“The goal shows the quality he has. I honestly think his confidence is really soaring right now because he’s feeling the love from everyone.

“I always said to Keshi that when the games mattered last season, the managers played him, and that was a sign to me that he’s a reliable player but he’s showing that he also has attacking qualities as well.”

Anderson’s career to now has seen him flit between League One and the lower end of the Championship.

The best season of Anderson’s career saw him record eight goal contributions – four goals and four assists — in 32 Championship outings for Blackpool.

Despite Anderson never featuring prominently at the right end of the Championship – the place Blues will be striving for next season – Davies believes his leading light out wide has all the attributes to step up.

“Yes, absolutely, he clearly has the quality,” replied Davies when asked whether Anderson has the ability to reach new heights in the second tier. “I’ve worked with top, top wingers and Keshi absolutely has the quality.

“It’s about having that belief in yourself, being very disciplined in your work and that’s what Keshi has been this season and that will be the formula that will kick him on.”
