Welcome to the latest Liverpool transfer blog where we will be bringing you updates on the latest transfer news and rumours throughout the day.

Arne Slot's men are back in Premier League action for the first time in almost a month tonight (Wednesday) as they take on Everton at Anfield in the Merseyside derby. Liverpool will be looking to get one back over their rivals after the Toffees scored a late equaliser in the last meeting between the two teams.

Liverpool go into the game nine points ahead of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table, following the Gunners' win over Fulham on Tuesday night. Three points against Everton to see them restore their lead back to 12 points.

Kick-off at Anfield is at 8pm. While we wait for that, attention is slowly turning to the transfer window.

Although there are more than two months before the window is due to open, the Reds have been linked with several transfers including the likes of Milos Kerkez, Xavi Simons and Alexander Isak.

There has also been talk over possible outgoings. Trent Alexander-Arnold looks to be closing in on a move to Real Madrid, while Darwin Nunez continues to be linked with a move away.

Stay here for all of the latest throughout the day.

Mohamed Salah contract claim

Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of agreeing a new contract with Mohamed Salah.

A report from Foot Mercato has claimed that the Reds are close to reaching an agreement to extend Salah's current deal, which is set to expire at the end of the season.

It has been reported that Salah will sign a two-year extension with Liverpool, which would run until the summer of 2027.

Liverpool team news hint

Darwin Nunez has posted on social media ahead of Wednesday night's impending Merseyside derby as Liverpool attempt to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds host Everton as they look to avenge their dramatic disappointment of a draw during February's reverse fixture.

Arsenal's 2-1 win over Fulham on Tuesday night further reduced Arne Slot's lead at the Premier League summit to nine points. That follows on from Arsenal's 1-0 win over Chelsea on the eve of the international break.

Takefusa Kubo interest

TEAMtalk state that Real Sociedad's Takefusa Kubo is one of Liverpool's top targets if Mohamed Salah leaves the club at the end of his contract in June.

Linked with an Anfield switch before, the Japanese star has seven goals this term. If the Spanish side fail to qualify for European football next year then the 23-year-old could supposedly be a part of a mass summer sale.

Harry Kane update

Harry Kane has been subject to rumours of a move back to the Premier League from Bayern Munich - even Liverpool's name has been floated as a possible destination!

The man himself this week put to bed such suggestions happening any time soon, now Fabrizio Romano has commented on the situation.

"I can guarantee there is no contact [with English clubs] - nothing at all. The intention is for Harry Kane to stay at Bayern for next season. Bayern will sign a back-up because they need one more offensive player.

"Harry Kane is fully focused on Bayern, never had any sort of contact with Liverpool or Manchester United. Tottenham have a buy clause they can match rival proposals for Kane but remember that it is very clear in the contract, it is always Harry Kane deciding."

Dean Huijsen race set

A transfer battle between Liverpool and Chelsea is brewing, say The Independent, setting the scene for one Premier League starlet.

That would be Dean Huijsen, who they say is the target of major interest from both whilst Real Madrid continue to 'monitor' what happens.

The 19-year-old is understood to have a £50m release clause to leave Bournemouth and both English suitors are now reported to have started work on a deal, though the Blues are ahead with Liverpool still to tie down Virgil van Dijk or not. Still, Huijsen's future remains 'up in the air'.

Alexander Isak latest

With Arne Slot truly unable to settle definitively on a starting striker for Liverpool in his first season in charge, Alexander Isak's name has become wrapped in rumours as of late.

But there are pointers to suggest the Swedish star is unattainable for any club this summer, not just the Reds.

According to The i Paper, his £150m price tag is a major put off for the Premier League's current top two clubs so they have began to look elsewhere. Also, it is added that if the Magpies qualify for next season's Champions League then this saga becomes a 'non-issue' and Isak will stay put.

Mohamed Amoura inquiries

A report by French publication L'Equipe has made claims towards 'inquiries' Liverpool have made towards the signing of Algerian attacker Mohamed Amoura.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Wolfsburg from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise. Reds fans may remember him as a goalscorer in their win over Jurgen Klopp's rotated side last season in the final fixture of the Europa League group stages.

With 10 goals and eight assists in Germany this season he is said to be available for permanent transfer to Wolfsburg for €14m (£11.6m). As well as Liverpool, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest are also said to be keen.

Joao Gomes competition

Also mentioned in Caughtoffside's earlier report into Joao Gomes was other clubs allegedly ready to challenge Liverpool for his signature.

Keeping an eye on the Wolves midfielder, as stated previously rated at £40m, are Arsenal and Manchester United, or so it is claimed.

Stefan Borson on Liverpool contracts

Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson, talking to Football Insider, has had his say on Liverpool's expiring contracts - mostly about the prospect of losing Trent Alexander-Arnold for no fee at all.

"The cost of replacing Trent like for like can’t really be done because I would say that he’s a fairly unique player, so they can’t replace him easily," he believes.

"They have just got to hope that probably Bradley or somebody else, some other youth player maybe can fill the gap and make the saving on the wages. I would think he’s a player that’s probably on between £125,000-150,000 a week maybe, so there’s a chunky wage saving.

"But, it’s very disappointing to lose a player of that age on a free transfer."

On the two other stars, he added: "I would think that Van Dijk and Salah are probably going to stay for at least another year.

"But certainly, if they were to lose another one of those players, that would be a story."

Milos Kerkez next club odds

Recent rumours have attached a £45m price tag to Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez, who is also said to firmly be on Liverpool's radar.

The Hungarian has enjoyed a stellar season on the South Coast, now finds himself linked with joining national teammate Dominik Szoboszlai at Anfield.

With that, Betfair have the Reds down as clear favourites ahead of some big rivals for Kerkez's signature. Here are the latest odds for the player's next club, signed for before August 29, 2025.

  • Liverpool 8/11 F
  • Man City 4/1
  • Bayern Munich 13/2
  • Real Madrid 15/2

Joao Gomes pursuit?

Caughtoffside claim Liverpool once again have Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes in their sights looking ahead to the summer transfer window. They explain how part of the changes at Anfield this summer could be Wataru Endo's exit for a midfielder with the profile Arne Slot feels will better suit his system.

With that, they say a £40m offer could be sent to tempt their fellow Premier League side.

Except only yesterday the 24-year-old agreed a fresh five-year contract with a year's option added at Molineux, which speaks volumes towards his availability first of all but the price tag he would now command.

Paul Merson on Liverpool contracts

Pundit Paul Merson says that it is 'criminal' how Liverpool have allowed themselves to fall into the trap of having Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold all running out of contract in a matter of months.

The former Arsenal and England player told Sky Sports: "I've been saying it for the last eight or nine months - I don't see any of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk signing at Liverpool. Because I just don't know why you wouldn't have signed already. Why would you keep on losing £80,000 a week, every week for the last 18 months?

"I'd be quite shocked if all three stayed from here. Unless Liverpool are prepared to give them £30m, £40m in their bank account. If Liverpool want to keep on being successful and go again next year, they've got to keep Van Dijk and Salah, assuming Alexander-Arnold has already gone.

"I think Van Dijk and Salah are the best in the business in their positions. If I could buy anybody, I'd buy them two. If you lose Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold, you've lost half of the back four. And if you lose Salah, you're losing 30 to 40 goals a season. Good luck finding them anywhere else."

He added: "In football terms, it's criminal. It's criminal that you can let three of the top players in the world of football have their contracts run down, and they could leave for absolutely nothing, go anywhere they want."

Xavi Simons update

Fabrizio Romano has given an insight into the availability of Dutch prodigy Xavi Simons ahead of the summer transfer window - one that Liverpool may want to pay attention to.

Simons, 21, was previously on the books of Paris Saint-Germain but on loan at RB Leipzig. After 18 months of that arrangement, in January the German team sealed his permanent signing for €50m (£42m). However, Romano explains that his new owners understand that the creative player may see this as his last with them and are preparing for a summer transfer.

Their aim will be to make a considerable profit, therefore Simons' price tag is said to be €70m-75m (£58m-62m).

Premier League clubs - of which Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool are said to be interested - are believed to be the most likely to meet this asking price over any La Liga or Bundesliga suitors.

Darwin Nunez's future

One of several Liverpool players with huge summers to navigate is Darwin Nunez.

Without the goals return expected of an £85m striker, the Uruguayan's place not just in the starting XI but as part of the squad would seem under threat from rumours over the months about a next transfer.

He has been linked with various European and Saudi Arabian clubs, even most recently reportedly getting Nottignham Forest and Newcastle United's attention for a cross-Premier League switch.

Yet the latest word from GIVEMESPORT does not bode well if a move to the North East was Nunez's ideal plan. They claim that if taking any players from Anfield, Eddie Howe would rather it be Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott.

The duo are speculated to be part of a cash plus player swap deal to take striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool.

Of course, that still leaves the question of what to do with the current No.9...
