Ally McCoist has slammed Alejandro Garnacho for one finer detail against Nottingham Forest.

Manchester United were beaten 1-0 by the Premier League high-flyers as Anthony Elanga's fifth-minute strike proved pivotal at The City Ground. Garnacho, who was handed a rating of 4 by MEN Sport, was out-thought and outwitted by Forest's defence and cut a frustrated figure at full-time.

Struggling up against Neco Williams, Garnacho had six attempts on goal, but not one was on target. Ruben Amorim felt his side was unfortunate to not come away with at least a point in Nottinghamshire, having also recorded 24 shots, their most in one Premier League game this term.

McCoist, who was on commentary duty for TNT Sports, felt aggrieved by Garnacho for one singular moment and was quick to call out the young Argentine live on air. He said: "He can’t lose it inside there Garnacho, he cannot lose it inside.

"It's either got to go long, or it's got to go over the full-back, it's got to go wide. As it happens it was not the best of finishes from Morgan Gibbs-White, but Garnacho can't lose it inside there."

Garnacho also poorly timed his sliding tackle on Elanga after just a few minutes, with the ex-United winger racing through to score the opener.

The 20-year-old has been largely impressive for Ruben Amorim in recent weeks, notably finding the net in the 3-0 win over Leicester City before the March international break.
