Jose Mourinho has been given a three-match ban and £5,974 fine for "unsportsmanlike conduct", for grabbing the nose of Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk in the aftermath of Fenerbahce's Turkish Cup defeat on Wednesday. Fenerbahce will be without Jose Mourinho on the touchline for the next three matches of their Super Lig title chase, after his ban was confirmed for grabbing the nose of Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk.
The altercation occurred after the full-time whistle as Mourinho's side suffered a 2-1 defeat to their fierce rivals in the Turkish Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday.
After what looked to be a verbal confrontation between the two managers, Mourinho reached out and appeared to grab Buruk's nose. The Galatasaray boss fell to the ground, while Mourinho was ushered away.
Mourinho's act, which was deemed to be "unsportsmanlike conduct" by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) in a statement published on Saturday, resulted in a three-match ban and a fine of 292,500 Turkish lira (£5,974).
The former Manchester United boss will also be unable to enter the dressing room for Fenerbahce's next three matches, against Trabzonspor, Sivasspor and Kayserispor.
Fener sit six points behind Super Lig leaders Galatasaray with a game in hand, as they hunt a first Turkish top-flight title since 2013/14.

After the incident between Mourinho and Buruk, Galatasaray's vice-president Metin Ozturk accused the Portuguese manager of "physically attacking" the Galatasaray boss.
"Where else in the world can he do this? What does he think of Turkey?" Ozturk said.
"I believe that Fenerbahce's management will impose the necessary sanction before the federation does."
Fenerbahce responded on Friday, saying Mourinho was provoked by "disrespectful words and actions" from Buruk, and accused the Galatasaray coach of throwing "himself on the ground in an exaggerated manner".
The club said: "The disrespectful words and actions of this person, who professionally threw himself to the ground as if he had been shot as a continuation of his planned and excessive provocations, are recorded with images."
It is the second time Mourinho has been given a touchline ban in recent months.
In February, he was banned for four matches, which was later reduced to two following an appeal lodged to the TFF by Fenerbahce, after Galatasaray accused Mourinho of making "racist statements". Mourinho said his comments were "completely taken out of context".
In response to Mourinho's ban being reduced, Galatasaray announced that the club would file a legal complaint against the president of the TFF, Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu, for an alleged "abuse of power".
