The Premier League season is reaching its climax, but already the summer transfer window is beginning to heat up. It's expected to be a busy few months when it comes to top-flight transfers, with many big clubs set to wheel and deal.

Newcastle United will be no exception, having taken a cautious approach to PSR and FFP rules in recent windows. Eddie Howe and Paul Mitchell will have funds to spend in order to improve their squad, with European football already guaranteed for next season.

There's also the job of holding on to their star players, with the likes of Alexander Isak, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes always likely to attract interest. Here's the latest transfer news and gossip from around the Premier League.

Liverpool name Harvey Elliott price

Harvey Elliott is a name that has been linked with Newcastle several times in recent weeks, with the Liverpool youngster tipped to leave Anfield this summer. While he has played a part in Arne Slot's side's title bid, he looks likely to move on as the Reds revamp their squad.

However, they will not allow him to leave on the cheap. Liverpool will want to maximise their profit on any deal for PSR reasons, with a pricetag of around £40m set for the attacking midfielder. United are said to be monitoring his situation, with Elliott fitting the transfer blueprint in that he is a young, English player with Premier League experience.

The 22-year-old has already played 141 times for Liverpool since breaking into the first-team squad, but has made just 12 Premier League apprearances under Slot. Reports in Germany suggest several Bundesliga clubs are weighing up a move.

Isak alternative targetted

Liverpool could be ready to ditch any plans to sign Newcastle United's Alexander Isak and turn their focus on West Ham's Jarrod Bowen. The Magpies have been firm in their stance on their Swedish hotshot, with Arsenal already opting to look elsewhere.

The Reds are said to be keen for goalscoring options this summer, with striker Darwin Nunez reportedly on the way out of Anfield, but Newcastle are not interested in selling star man Isak. Football Insider report that Arne Slot and Co will now turn their attenions to West Ham and England forward Bowen, with the 28-year-old potentially available.

Ramsdale on the move

Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale could again be on the move this summer, with the Saints now relegated from the Premier League. The former Arsenal shot-stopper had been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle previously, having worked with Eddie Howe at Bournemouth.

However, reports this weekend suggest he could stay on the south coast - and in the Premier League - in a return to the Vitality Stadium with the Cherries. Bournemouth currently have Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea, and while they could yet make that a permanent deal, it is thought Ramsdale's £25m release clause appeals.

Newcastle have been linked with a move for Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford should they decide to strengthen their goalkeeping department in the summer, although his price could rise if Scott Parker's men win promotion to the Premier League. The Clarets are top of the Championship following their win at Coventry on Satuday.
