Chelsea look set for another blockbuster summer transfer window, with Enzo Maresca needing reinforcements in several positions.
The lengthy absence of Nicolas Jackson has highlighted that a striker signing should be one priority, with Viktor Gyokeres, Liam Delap and Victor Osimhen among the options. All three are expected to seal moves ahead of the 2025/26 season, with Arsenal and Manchester also interested.
The Blues have also been linked to a number of versatile attackers, especially with Jadon Sancho and Joao Felix facing uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge. Jamie Gittens is one that has attracted significant interest and now a big update on his future at Borussia Dortmund has come to light.
With all of that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours as the summer window edges closer.
Osimhen feelings clear
Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has again made it clear that Osimhen wants to join the Blues.
“Listen, it will be really sad if we don’t get a player who supported us a kid and wants to play for this Football Club," he said on The Obi One Podcast.
“His idol is Drogba, he will want to break records, win us trophies, get us back to the top, come for Drogba’s records. I’m telling you that would be his mission.
“If the club chose not to pursue it.. then well fair enough, good luck to them, but the good thing about it is we know where we left it, we can literally pick the phone up and get him straight in the door."
football.london says: At this point, it could not be more clear that Mikel wants to see his fellow Nigerian Osimhen playing for Chelsea.
The Blues do need a proven goal-scorer and therefore it is no surprise to see him remain as a long-term target. Nicolas Jackson has also approved of the move after liking a social media post based on links to Osimhen and therefore it could be the perfect move.
Napoli quite clearly want to sell and the two clubs have negotiated moves for Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibaly so it is plausible a favourable deal is completed.
Gittens green light
According to Sky Sports Germany's Patrick Berger, Gittens has asked Dortmund's board to be sold in the summer. The report has added that £86million (€100m) is no longer considered as his asking price with the German club prepared to accept a suitable offer with that in the region of £58million.
Chelsea have been linked to the England international with Manchester United and Chelsea as other interested parties.
football.london says: Chelsea signing Gittens now appears to be a real possibility based on the latest update. As the Blues could part ways with a number of wingers, bringing in Gittens could quickly become a priority.
The likely change in asking price also makes it a far more appealing deal to pursue with Dortmund wary of selling at the right time for the best possible price. Chelsea will welcome left-sided attacker Geovany Quenda in just over 12 months, but Gittens does tick a number of boxes.
It is also worth noting that it will surely be more important to strengthen in central midfield and agreeing a move for a striker.
