Charlie Mulgrew's disastrous tenure as boss of Kelty Hearts has came to an end after the former Celtic star handed in his resignation.

The 39-year-old stepped into management for the first time when he succeeded Michael Tidser on January 17 after the latter had departed to join Dunfermline in the Championship.

But a dismal run of just one win from 11 league games in charge has left the Fife club sitting just four points above the relegation play-off zone in League One with four games remaining.

In that time frame, Kelty have shipped a worrying 21 goals, scoring just five times, drawing three and losing seven.

And the club will be on the lookout for a third manager to take them through the remainder of the campaign after accepting Mulgrew's resignation.

A statement read: "Kelty Hearts FC can confirm that Manager, Charlie Mulgrew, has today tendered his resignation from the post, which has been accepted by the club Board.

"We can also confirm that Assistant Manager, Mark Kerr, will leave the club by mutual agreement.

"Although only with the club for a short period, the Board would like to place on record their recognition and thanks for the hard work Charlie and Mark have done on the club’s behalf during their tenure.

"Everyone at New Central Park would like to wish Charlie and Mark the very best of fortune for their future ventures.

"Further updates will follow."
