Newcastle United youngster Ellis Stanton is set to leave the Magpies at the end of the season.

The midfielder featured for the first-team in pre-season and played in the Sela Cup after being handed a chance to impress under Eddie Howe last summer. However, the Academy product will opt for pastures new with a number of clubs interested in offering him a new deal next season.

Stanton has made 13 appearances for the Under-21 side this season and scored once but at 20 is now in need of regular first-team football. The Academy product joined the club at the age of eight and caught the eye in the youth team with Eddie Howe calling him up to first-team training at just 16.

Stanton represented England at youth level picking up a cap in 2019 for the Three Lions Under-15s. However, the Farringdon-born youngster suffered a meniscus injury in the 2022/23 campaign and missed a large chunk of action.

He returned last season and was named in Newcastle's squad for the post-season tour of Australia while also being involved in pre-season 2024.

Speaking about his injury problems last season, he said: "I injured my meniscus twice and I was out for about six months. I needed surgery, which I got and from then on it was a case of getting fit as soon as possible but I'd injured it again.

"It was tough, especially seeing the lads playing and thinking how good it would be to be back playing. I think that pushed me on, though, to get back as quickly as possible. Now that I’ve had the injuries, it’s time to move forward.

"I think I’ve got mentally stronger from it. Anything I think about, I know I’ve recovered from that so why couldn’t I recover from something else."

With a busy summer window coming up, Stanton's agency CAA Base are looking at the best options for him before deciding on his next move.
