Kyle Walker believes that the England have "no excuses" not to succeed with Thomas Tuchel at their helm.

The full-back, aged 34, has come tantalisingly close to glory with England under former manager Gareth Southgate, reaching the final of the Euros twice and a World Cup semi-final. However, Walker believes that Tuchel's leadership has instilled confidence within the squad, convincing them they can clinch the ultimate prize at the upcoming World Cup.

Walker, who is currently sidelined whilst on loan at AC Milan from Manchester City, praised Tuchel for renewing a sense of "excitement" in the team and emphasising the importance of every training session.

Speaking on the BBC Kyle Walker podcast, the defender, who recently underwent elbow surgery, explained: "It's exciting. It's exciting for English football, it's exciting for the lads that are involved.

"There was a meeting just before lunch. He addressed the team, saying how excited he is. He really wanted the job. You know, we could see the enthusiasm and you could hear the enthusiasm in his voice.

"And I think for the players as well sometimes, like for me moving to Milan, a change is good. And we just need to prove it now because we've got no excuses. We've got a great manager, we've got a great set of lads and fantastic individuals, a fantastic team.

"It's a new way now. You have to forget that that's in the past. You turn over the page and want a manager to bring in with the experience that he's got with managing the players that he's managed and the clubs that he's been at.

"I think he said to me, there's something like 24 training sessions before we go to a World Cup. So for international managers, I don't think people actually understand how difficult it is to gel a group of players that come (to camp), you know, every three months, as quickly as he has to do that. It's very difficult.

"And, you know, it's going to take a little bit of time for him to adapt to that and everything. But, you know, he's took it in his stride."
