One Sunderland player earned a special tribute after the club's uninspiring 0-0 draw at Norwich City. Ahead of the home clash with Swansea City, club legend Gary Bennett singled out Enzo Le Fee as the club confirmed their Championship play-off spot.
Le Bris rang the changes fin the starting XI by handing starts to Eliezer Mayenda, Milan Aleksic, Tommy Watson and Leo Hjelde, who came in for Jobe Bellingham, Patrick Roberts, Romaine Mundle and Wilson Isidor.
None of them did themselves justice as Sunderland failed to get going in an abject display that will have worried supporters. It was only in the final 20 minutes that Sunderland livened up as he introduced Le Fee, Roberts and Wilson Isidor.
Roma loanee Le Fee replaced Tommy Watson, as Le Bris attempted to revitalise his side’s apathetic display. He was the singular bright creative spark in Sunderland’s performance and already looks back to his sharpest following his injury setback.
With an 89 per cent passing accuracy and potency in the final third, he impressed ex-centre-back Bennett who hailed Le Fee’s “quality” outing.
He told BBC sport: “If you said, would you’ve taken a point before a ball was kicked, you would’ve said yes, especially with the changes we made.
“OK, it wasn’t the best 45 minutes for Sunderland but when we did make the changes you did see the quality which we’ve got. Le Fee is a smashing player, and he tried to pick out Wilson Isidor with a great pass and all of a sudden we came to life.”
Sunderland fans have been desperate to see the dynamic Frenchman return to action and have got their wish and he has shown in the last two subsitute appearances he is vital to the team if they are to stand any chance of winning the play-offs.
