Breaking down Mohamed Salah’s lucrative new Liverpool deal

The rumours are over: Mo Salah is staying at Liverpool.

After months of speculation, Liverpool’s legendary winger has put pen to paper on a new deal with the Premier League club, ending speculation regarding whether or not he would see his previous deal run out and leave the club at the end of the season.

The new deal will see the Premier League’s top scorer this season linked to the club until 2027.

How much does Mo Salah earn at Liverpool?

While specific numbers are not made public, two things are widely understood: Mo Salah’s previous deal saw him earn in the region of £350,000-a-week ($458,000), and he is reportedly not accepting a pay cut from the Merseyside club.

So far this season, Salah has propelled Liverpool to within touching distance of what would be their 20th Premier League title, scoring 27 goals and getting 17 assists at the time of writing.

On his deal, Salah said “of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.

“It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career. I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together.

So far during his time at Liverpool, the winger has won a Premier League, a Champions League, an FA Cup and two League Cups, UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup.
