Scott McTominay has taken to Napoli like water off a duck's back since his big money move from Manchester United last summer - and it's not just on the pitch that the Scotland star has been embracing what life in southern Italy has to offer.

The powerhouse midfielder and compatriot Billy Gilmour have both swapped the Premier League for Serie A to try and help Antonio Conte's men win just their second Scudetto since 1990.

Former Chelsea and Brighton playmaker Gilmour has had to be patient for minutes but McTominay's red-hot start has won him adulation from fans at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium already.

The 28-year-old has netted seven goals in his first 32 matches for Napoli - who trail Serie A league leaders Inter by just three points with seven games remaining.

And as well as taking regular lessons to learn the local lingo, McTominay has also ingrained himself further in the Neapolitan way of life by bringing local produce into his diet, so much so that he now snacks on a fruit and vegetable that he simply wouldn't touch back home - tomatoes.

Naples is home to the famous Piennolo tomatoes that are grown on the slopes of nearby Mount Vesuvius and the Tartan Army hero says he can't get enough of them. In a recent interview with The Athletic, he said: "I never ate them at home.

"They're just red water. Here, they actually taste like tomatoes. Now I eat them as a snack."

And the midfield dynamo's personal chief Mario Sorrentino - who also caters for Scotland pal Gilmour - has revealed that it's not just tomatoes that McTominay goes 'crazy' for.

In an interview with Radio Goal, live on Kiss Kiss Napoli, he said: "Scott is a special guy, a truly polite person.

"He always walked me to the door whenever I was at his house, he is a guy who respects the work of others a lot.

"I have worked with many people exposed in the media, but I have never found people like him. On my social channels I talk about what it means to cook for a footballer.

"Having a foreigner to cook for was great, I did some research on zero-mile products. He really appreciated it, he thanks me for having discovered certain products.

"He went crazy for vegetables, fruit, but above all from a qualitative point of view.

"He tasted the Piennolo tomato, he is a great eater.

"We always offer him different things according to his diet. Every time he appreciates what I cook for him, he also really likes mozzarella and ricotta."
