Mikel Arteta faces the media following his side’s disappointing draw with Brentford at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal thought they had taken the lead through Kieran Tierney as a cross from Ethan Nwaneri was nodded in, however the newly-added semi-automated offside VAR later showed that he was quite far off. Thomas Partey was the man to break the deadlock, finishing well after a Declan Rice drive courtesy of David Raya’s quick-thinking from a corner.
Yet the Gunners would again be thwarted as Yoane Wissa found an equaliser after a cross failed to be dealt with by the Arsenal defence. Bukayo Saka had the chance to win it at the end but spurned effectively what was an open goal.

Lastly on the position in the leage
Yeah it is difficult because there are a lot of reasons why we are that distance. We are still where we are.
On Rice playing with injury
He was fine yesterday, he trained with normality. That's why we put him in from the start.
On injuries
We had an idea because we know certain players couldn't finish the game. We didn't expect the issue with Thomas and we had to take him out.
On the game
Well after the equaliser especially as we play with ten men a lot. We had two occasions to finish the actions better.
Player ratings - Arsenal 1-1 Brentford
Arsenal were unable to keep the momentum flowing from their victory over Real Madrid. Drawing with a Brentford side having rotated for the second league match in a row.
Kieran Tierney saw a first-half goal ruled out for offside after being caught by the Bees’ high line from an Ethan Nwaneri cross. They would, after plenty of opportunities, take the lead in the second half as Declan Rice travelled half the length of the field to lay-in Thomas Partey to score.
Yoane Wissa found the net after the Bees made some late pressure pay. The Gunners failing to clear a corner kick and paying the price as William Saliba was beaten to a back-post header before the ball fell to the Brentford forward. Saka had a golden chance to win it at the end but sadly failed stunningly to take a shot when it presented itself.
