Kieran Tierney sparks instant Arsenal regret as 'terrible' Mikel Arteta call leaves fans DISGUSTED

Arsenal fans weren't happy with Mikel Arteta after some erratic substitutions before Brentford's fightback

Arsenal fans were left blaming Mikel Arteta's erratic substitutions after they dropped points against Brentford – with Kieran Tierney's withdrawal leaving punters 'disgusted.'

The Scotland defender, set to return to Celtic in the summer, started a Premier League game for the first time since May 2023, and thought he even had an early goal to show for it before VAR intervened.

He was on the pitch when Arsenal did find a breakthrough that counted, Declan Rice teeing up Thomas Partey for the opener on 63 minutes.

Just moments later though Arteta hooked Tierney, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Ethan Nwaneri.

On came Myles Lewis-Skelly, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka, but the subs didn't exactly have the desired effect.

Yoanne Wissa later equalised for Brentford who nicked a point and put another nail in the coffin of the Gunners' virtually non-existent title hopes.

And fans weren't exactly happy on social media. One wrote: "I’m so disgusted with Mikel Arteta tonight. He could’ve taken off Jorginho at any point. He’s to old and he cannot move around his feet. He could’ve put Lewis-Skelly in the middle and left Tierney on, while another said: "Don’t think we’d have conceded with Tierney still in that position on the pitch. Was playing well."

One fan raged: "Arteta's terrible management of the pitch today. Starters played too many minutes, he rushed through substitutions and took off the freshest players (Nwaneri, Tierney, Zinchenko). Now we're playing with 10 men because something happened to Jorginho, and there are no more substitutions. Terrible."

And another said: "Why would you take Tierney and Partey out? That’s just absolutely stupid, Very poor decisions."
