Bruno Fernandes was brutally mocked by Newcastle United fans during Sunday's 4-1 demolition of Manchester United.

Sandro Tonali gave Eddie Howe's team the perfect start with a superb goal just past the 20-minute mark. The visitors managed to level the score about 10 minutes later when Alejandro Garnacho slipped one past Nick Pope, leaving both teams on equal footing at half-time.

Newcastle came back strong in the second half, with Harvey Barnes restoring the lead for Howe's side thanks to a clever assist from Jacob Murphy. Barnes then bagged his second of the match with roughly 30 minutes remaining before Bruno Guimaraes capitalised on a goalkeeping blunder to make it four for the Magpies at St James' Park.

Guimaraes' celebration saw him point to the Newcastle badge, acknowledge the back of his jersey, and then kiss the Magpies' badge. In response, Newcastle fans sang 'there's only one Bruno' while jeering Man United's Bruno Fernandes as he was subbed.

Newcastle's performance received special praise from former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin on BBC Radio 5 Live. "In the second half the pace from Newcastle in closing down has been startling, but the pure class on the ball is exceptional," he said.

"In general it has been a fine game from them. When you look at Newcastle they are flying in this period trying to get in the top five.

"It's a race for Champions League and if you're zipping along that motorway, Newcastle are on the outside lane right now and they've got their foot to the floor. They've got eight wins in their last 10 domestic games, the two they didn't win were against Liverpool and Man City.

"They are in fantastic form right now and they look to have lots of back up as well."
